With a combined experience of more than 26 years in property, husband and wife team Manni and Romey Chopra have now achieved Property Development of the Year (above £1 million) at the Property Investors Awards.
The site which won them the award saw them transform an ex-Royal British Legion site built in the 1950s into four semi-detached houses.
Manni explains:
“The site was originally an ex-Royal British Legion site built in the 1950s and a big part of the local community for many years. A lot of the neighbours had previous generations working in the army and used it for all events and community gatherings.
“Sadly, it shut down and became a decayed building attracting antisocial activity. We demolished the building and transformed the site by creating four beautiful homes which have been warmly welcomed by the local community.”
She said: “As a mark of respect, we managed to name the properties Legion Place and The Poppies which was also appreciated by the local community.
“When you build new homes, it is important that new owners integrate into the community particularly when the original site held so much sentiment. This has been an inspired development and feedback from the new buyers has been extremely positive.”
Manni emphasises that each development Chopra Property Group does is approached with a visionary mindset.
She explains: “We have a vision for all our developments. We have taken all our developments from derelict and vacant conditions to high-quality accommodation.
“We believe we have created a positive impact by catering to what the market wants and needs – it is filling in the gap and making sure it meets the demand of the working and professionals and families wanting for a higher standard of living.”
To make sure standards are always kept to a high level for their property development projects, Chopra Property Group fosters a positive working relationship with their contractors.
Manni explains: “We employ our own Quantity Surveyor (QS) to manage quality control on site and we all meet on monthly meetings with the banks monitoring surveyor to inspect and monitor the contractors’ work.
“We always create a friendly and open working relationship with our contractor and their teams on site.
“Our down-to-earth approach has worked very well for us and we have created a no-blame culture. We are open and approachable and always work together with the contractor to find a solution.”
