Catching up with Kevin Edge – 2016 Property Deal of the Year Award Winner

“Winning this award has been a great end to a fantastic year and has given us real momentum moving into 2017” ~ Kevin Edge

Kevin’s journey began almost 30 years ago when he started in construction as a teenager.  Twenty years ago he started a building company ‘Civic Design & Build’…

When asked what made him establish his own company, he stated, “The idea behind launching Civic was to offer a bespoke approach to customers encompassing everything from architectural designs, planning applications, interior design, specialist trades and project management alongside the highest levels of workmanship.”

What makes Civic different? “We truly listen to our client’s wishes and we have forged strong relationships with planning departments who value our attention to detail, preparation and strategic development.”

How did you take the leap from the building trade to property development?  “It was always an avenue I wanted to investigate but I didn’t want to come to it prematurely.  I took the plunge a couple of years ago after expanding on my project management studies and gaining further knowledge and advice through mentoring via a renowned property entrepreneur.”

Having attended the Property Investors Awards for the last two years, what has been your experience?  “The ceremony itself was a great event, well hosted, superb venue and really good fun with lots of entertainment during the evening.  This year was a little different as it is a bit nerve-wracking when you are up for an award, like being the best man at a wedding – difficult to have an appetite. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it and have already booked my seats for the 2017 event.”

What does winning an award mean to you? “The award was appreciated as a really nice reward after years of hard work.  It has created fantastic exposure for the business and has been great recognition for the guys who have been part of the team for a long time.  We’ve already had a lot of interest from potential investors in future projects.”

Will you be entering yourself into the 2017 nominations and what advice would you give to prospective nominees?  “We are moving into more new developments this forthcoming year so will be aiming to be entering again for an award.  I have also noticed there are more award categories to choose from this year so will be keeping it secret which we will be entering into.  I would tell prospective nominees to have belief in themselves, their work and the value they offer, which deserves to be recognised.  Also, to take time over their application as winning an award is such a valuable achievement.”
